The Position
Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.

The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for Mental Health Technicians that will be located in Sparks, NV at the Adolescent Treatment Center (ATC). Mental Health Technicians provide direct care services, basic skills training, psychosocial training, and case management to youth in a residential setting. The incumbent will work directly with youth ages 12 through 17 with mental health and behavioral health issues. Incumbents work directly with youth individually, in a group setting, and with families. Incumbents work with youth in crisis, complete safety checks, run precautions, complete safety protocols, and respond to emergency situations according to policy and procedures. Incumbents assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment as well as provide all direct care and living needs to clients including transportation. Incumbents will be responsible for shift supervision by providing initial and ongoing trainings, ensure employees submit daily documentation, create emergency charts, documentation for audits, and monitor and organize program materials. This position requires basic knowledge and understanding of Microsoft products including Word/Excel/Outlook, and an ability to learn and master electronic clinical information systems including the State's AVATAR computerized Client Charting System. Incumbents will work as part of a team of mental health professionals with an emphasis on collaboration. The mission of Adolescent Treatment Center is to maintain a positive and safe treatment environment, to prevent & reduce the use of seclusion and restraint, and to provide youth with the opportunity to facilitate the process of recovery and establish skills commensurate with their physical, social, emotional, behavioral, educational, and moral development. This is a full time position with an anticipated variable work schedule. It includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience involving public contact which may have included providing care or guidance for children, elders or others; volunteer work in providing respite to caregivers; or leading youth groups; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
