The Position
Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This recruitment is for a Mental Health Counselor in the Child and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Response Team in Reno, NV. The Mobile Crisis Response Team triages calls from community providers, schools, and families and responds in teams to children and adolescents in acute psychiatric and behavioral crisis in the community. Responses can take place in emergency departments, schools, home and other community settings. Teams can remain in place for up to 30 days to provide intensive clinical and case management services to these youth and families. This position will be the clinical lead on the response and stabilization team. The mobile crisis team will provide services during daytime, evening and weekend hours across a variety of shifts. There currently is also a requirement to participate in a monthly rotation of on call after hours. Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. The ideal candidate will enjoy a fast paced environment, but will also be a self-starter during slower times. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS), together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies, provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
