Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

This position works within the Department of Taxation's IT Help Desk Division and is located in Carson City, NV. The IT Technician IV is responsible for monitoring batch jobs; maintaining assigned system applications; maintaining end users' computer and peripheral equipment; and assisting end users by troubleshooting, providing solutions, and resolving hardware, software, and network related issues. Additional duties include maintaining the Endpoint Management and Image Deployment systems with current scripts, patches, software, and images to ensure compliance with current security requirements. This position may also assist upper management with business process analysis and IT consultation to provide proper information system solutions to end users. The standard shift for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. However, the incumbent is required to be in an "on-call" status for approximately 25% of the year. Please note that the incumbent may be required to work evenings/weekends/holidays for system maintenance. Ideal candidates will need to be capable of transporting IT equipment as travel between the Carson City and Reno offices is required.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Experience
Experience with Endpoint Management Systems (EMS) such as Quest K1000 and K2000 appliances is required.
