The Position
Under immediate supervision, incumbents perform duties below the journey level while receiving training for advancement to an entry-level professional health/human services class. The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Health/Human Services Professional Trainee underfilling a Social Services Specialist 2 that will be in the Family Programs Office in Carson City, NV. This position will act as point of contact and liaison with compact administrator's and ICPC liaisons from all federal, state and local child welfare/adoption agencies (in-state and out-of-state) and national adoption organizations. Assist in identifying statewide and regional issues requiring action by the ICPC Central Office unit or administration. Assist when directed or as back up to the ICPC Compact Administrator in the process of interstate administrative agreements as a means of promoting ICPC efficiency and promotes ICPC planning and development statewide.
Assist with mediating disagreements between incoming and outgoing placements. Participate in and facilitate meetings, as directed with jurisdictional ICPC representatives to identify statewide and regional issues requiring action by the ICPC Central Office unit or administration. Assist in the development, implementation of plans, evaluations, related activities and reporting requirements as assigned. It will also be required, assist and participate in the efficient, accurate processing of interstate compact placement requests (incoming and outgoing) for all categories of individual ICPC cases from initiation to closure in accordance to approved policy through Input into the UNITY system and NEICE for all ICPC cases per federal and state reporting requirements for relevant quality improvement and data tracking. Compile and review statistical data regarding the ICPC activities as necessary for inclusion to State and Federal reports and provide technical assistance and consultation to other agencies. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls related to ICPC and other programs as necessary in accordance with Federal/State/Department guidelines and under the guidance of the ICPC Specialist. This is a full-time position that includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS), together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, early childhood development, psychology, public health, special education, nursing, or other discipline directly related to the field in which the applicant is to be trained; OR two years of journey level technical or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained. (NOTE: some jobs strictly require a bachelor's degree).

    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
