The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups.
This position works within the Department of Administration's Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Division, Help Desk Unit and is located in Carson City, NV. The shift for this position is a combination of swing and grave yard and the schedule will be 8:00pm-4:00am Monday through Friday. Under the direction of the IT Manager 1, the IT Professional 3 is tasked with supervising, training, and evaluating subordinate staff within the Help Desk Unit. The Help Desk supports all State agencies and provides quality customer service by answering calls and providing one stop shopping for users by supporting desktop, network, and hardware and software issues. Duties also include monitoring the Heat ticketing system; phone queue management; Department of Public Safety application support; and general user maintenance (creation, deletion, etc). Remote configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Windows based desktop PCs, laptops, PDA phones, mobile hand-held devices, servers, network equipment, and peripherals across the entire state of Nevada are also functions that may be performed while in this position. Additional responsibilities include fixing PCs, monitoring the network and assisting with Help Desk user support. Statewide travel of 25% is possible within the State of Nevada; therefore, a driver's license is required. The EITS Help Desk provides 24x7x365 support, so candidates must be willing to work various shifts which includes nights, weekends, and holidays. Ideal candidates will have customer service call center experience as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Working weekends and/or holidays is required.
    One year of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for continued employment.
    A pre-employment State of Nevada FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
