Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the Well Drilling Section of the Nevada Division of Water Resources in Elko. Incumbent is primarily responsible for being part of a well drilling section team that performs inspections of well drilling activities, reviews notice of intent to drill cards and well driller reports, performs field investigations, and collects a variety of groundwater and surface water data. The position assists in the monitoring of the construction of water wells for compliance with Nevada water law and rules and regulations. This position requires field work and may include traveling to remote areas of Nevada including extensive field work for up to two weeks at a time.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
