Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position works within the Administrative Services Division, Department of Administration, located in Carson City. The incumbent is tasked with supervising two (2) Budget Analyst 2's, managing personnel matters, maintaining appropriate work performance standards, hiring and disciplinary duties, and maintaining written procedures that comply with applicable internal control standards and operating systems. Additionally, this position provides budget training and support to agency personnel or supervised staff, assists agencies in developing biennial budgets including input and revision to the Nevada Executive Budget System (NEBS), assists agencies with the strategic planning process including development of long and short range objectives, budget analysis, budget oversight, provides expertise and fiscal guidance to agencies for budget projections, completes federal grant reports and quarterly draws according to the federal guidelines, and completes year end Single Audit Reporting Forms (CARF) within assigned timeframes. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and four years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
