Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Desert Regional Center (DRC), and will be located in Las Vegas, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and promotes a positive work environment. The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
This vacancy for a Psychiatric Nurse (PN) 2 is located at Desert Regional Center in Las Vegas NV. This is a very rewarding and specialized field of nursing working with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disability. The PN 2 participates in the overall quality assurance and performance improvement activities for Community Services, as well as the ICF/IID programs. This includes participation in the quality oversight of contracted community providers, conducting and participating in the environmental reviews of supported living arrangements, the ICF/IID, and Jobs and Day Training Sites, conducting investigations of allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation, complete thorough and comprehensive health care assessments and develop detailed report of findings including recommendations for health care supports.

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
