The Position
Licensed Practical Nurses provide general or psychiatric practical nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking applicants with a passion to make a difference in the lives of Nevada's Children! We currently have an opening for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) providing general or psychiatric practical nursing located in Sparks, Nevada at our Adolescent Treatment Center (ATC). The selected candidate will work closely with the Agency Medical Director to provide care to adolescents with emotional disturbances and mental health needs. The LPN will be responsible for various duties, including medication administration and management, record keeping of prescribed medications, and participation in multidisciplinary treatment teams. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with youth and adolescents teaching basic living and life skills. This is a full time position with an anticipated variable work schedule of 4 10 hour shifts which includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. The State of Nevada and DCFS offer an excellent benefits package that includes health, dental and vision insurance, participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), accrual of 15 days of annual and 15 days of sick leave, 11 paid holidays and no city, county, state or social security tax! Some positions may also be eligible for an additional 5% Shift Differential pay. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS), together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada and one year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
