Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
This position is responsible for providing guidance and K-12 social studies expertise for a variety of statewide activities aligned to the new 2017 Nevada Academic Content Standards for Social Studies. Additionally, this position must focus on K-12 content literacy. The person in this position will collaborate with Nevada school districts, state-sponsored charter schools, Regional Professional Development programs, the Nevada System of Higher Education and other educational stakeholders for the planning of ongoing professional development, technical support and the development of instructional material resources aligned to the new 2017 Social Studies standards with an emphasis on K-12 content specific literacy.
This position requires a valid Nevada teacher's license or eligibility for a Nevada teacher's license at the time of recruitment with a Social Studies endorsement. Travel up to 25% of the time may be required.

An earned Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and two years of professional experience in an educational program area. |

This position requires experience teaching Social Studies at the secondary level.
