JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
State Land Agents conduct a broad range of real estate transactions related to State lands, leases, water rights, mineral rights, easements, navigable water management, and acquisition and sale of land, water rights and development rights within statutory authority and in accordance with established real estate principles, practices and ethical standards.
Under close supervision, incumbents perform the duties in a training capacity. Work is assigned and reviewed for technical accuracy. This class represents the trainee level and progression to the journey level may occur upon meeting the minimum qualifications and with the approval of the appointing authority. Duties include the generation of documents associated with these transactions and use of state owned land. The individual interfaces regularly with other state agencies to ensure services to these agencies are completed in a professional and timely manner. This includes working with other state agencies to evaluate both short and long term land needs. The individual is responsible for inspecting state properties on a regular basis to ensure uses are authorized; conducting research in a variety of areas including title research and gathering information and compiling it into reports; and the review of state and federal laws related to state lands. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited college or university in business administration; public administration, real estate, environmental or natural science, or related field and one year of technical or professional experience in public lands, real estate, property management or development, or a closely related field; OR
graduation from high school or the equivalent and three years technical or professional experience in public lands, real estate, escrow and title, property management or development, or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

The Examination
Application Evaluation Exam
The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
