The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) is seeking an Administrative Assistant 4 to join our Financial Services Team. This position fulfills the very important purpose of working directly with our consumers to determine the entitlements they may be eligible for.
This position is required to complete and pass the state mandated training and testing as a Certified Application Counselor through the Nevada Department of Insurance in accordance with the Affordable Care Act and maintain certification Responsibilities include: interviewing consumers to help identify their needs; developing a plan of action to access public assistance and social service programs, verifying consumer has followed through with suggested programs and is accessing available services; resolving complex issues related to obtaining benefits; advocating on behalf of a consumer in need of community resources and/or their entitlements; interpreting and communicating state/private rules, regulations and policies notifying consumers of their rights and responsibilities for accessing, obtaining and maintaining services; utilize computer for data entry to establish and update case files and compiling data for reports; create and maintain department reports/records as required in a timely and accurate fashion; collaborate with various public assistance and health related programs; and serve as community liaison between NNAMHS and other agencies. Other responsibilities include support and supervision of one or more accounting staff positions, cross-training on several desks, ability and willingness to understand and take direction from seasoned staff, and be flexible and adaptable to changing job responsibilities. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
