Under general supervision, Supervisor, Centrally Assessed Properties supervise, train and direct professional
staff in the appraisal and assessment of mines and net proceeds of minerals statewide for tax assessment
purposes; appraisal and assessment of intercounty and interstate utilities and transportation companies for
property tax purposes; and billing, collection, and distribution of property and net proceeds of mineral taxes. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

This position works within the Department of Taxation and is located in Carson City, NV. The incumbent is tasked with the management of the section's Utility Analysts, Mine Property Appraisers and the Management Analyst 1. In addition to the oversight of the seven staff members, this position is also responsible for the valuation of mining and milling properties throughout the state and Net Proceeds of Minerals Tax Assessments. Other duties include the collection of data, appraisal, allocation and apportionment of values for inter-county and interstate utility and transportation companies; establishing and implementing discovery and valuation procedures for mining, utility and transportation properties consistent with state law and department policies; compiling data for and publishing annual bulletins for certified values; and designing and maintain annual reporting forms. This position also provides assistance to County Assessor and other county and state officials with regard to forecasting net proceeds tax revenue and property tax revenue, billing and collection of mine property tax and other issues as required. Develops presentations and acts as expert witness for State and County Boards of Equalization, the Nevada Tax Commission, Legislature and other bodies as directed. Additional responsibilities include billing, collection and distribution of ad valorem taxes on centrally-assessed utilities and transportation companies and net proceeds of minerals taxes; developing and maintaining records and procedures on delinquencies, deficiencies and collection for tax returns; generating, maintaining and providing information for section fiscal biennium budgetary data. Although not required, experience with valuation of utilities and/or mines is preferred. Ideal candidates will have experience in managing appraisers.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration or related field and four years of experience in property appraisal, two years of which included experience in reviewing financial statements of corporations for tax purposes; OR four years of experience in financial management and managerial accounting principles and practices involving the valuation of property; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Certification as a Property Tax Appraiser by the Nevada Department of Taxation is required within two years of appointment. |

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. |
