The Position
Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
Education Programs Professional will provide oversight and leadership that will guide the selection of coherent improvement strategies to increase the State's capacity to lead meaningful change in Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to improve results for children eligible for the Gifted and Talented Program with a focus on improving performance on assessments, increased graduation, and social emotional learning. Under the direction of the Office of Special Education at the Nevada Department of Education, this position (located in Carson City or Las Vegas) will have to utilize their skills to read and interpret data specific to students in the Gifted and Talented program and make determinations based on that data. This position will have to use those determinations to decide what the best course of action is with each individual district will assisting and guiding them in taking the appropriate next steps to ensure that students that are eligible for Gifted and Talented services have opportunities to make adequate progress. This position has a driving requirement of up to 25% which requires a valid driver's license. This position also requires a State of Nevada/FBI background check, at the cost of the applicant.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    An earned Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and two years of professional experience in an educational program area.

    Positions require program-specific education and/or experience which will be identified by the agency at the time of recruitment.
Special Requirements
    Positions require statewide travel.
    Some positions require a Nevada teacher's license at the time of application.
    College transcripts must be submitted with the employment application.
    This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI background check, at the cost of the applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires a current teaching certificate with a license in Gifted and Talented Education (GATE).
