Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Rural Clinics is looking for a Psychiatric Nurse 1 to underfill a Psychiatric Nurse 2 vacancy. This position provides direct psychiatric nursing services for clients, including assessments and therapeutic interventions; organizes and oversees medication clinic and services for Center clients; providing consultation and education to clients, the community and other service providers. The successful candidate will work closely with our Community Health Services clinic in Ely providing reproductive health, immunizations, infectious diseases, and emergency preparedness activities and meetings. This position may provide services on behalf of and at multiple sites statewide as needed. Rural Clinics is comprised of 16 outpatient behavioral health clinics located throughout rural Nevada. We provide a continuum rehabilitative services (e.g., targeted case management, basic skills training, psychosocial rehabilitation, therapy, testing, jail diversion, and children's programs, crisis intervention) to both children and adults. Some of the valuable services we provide include Outpatient Counseling, Service Coordination, Medication Clinic, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Residential Support and Consumer Advocacy.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and one year of professional nursing experience; OR one year as a Registered Nurse I in Nevada State service caring for individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

A bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
