The Position
Personnel Analysts are responsible for performing comprehensive personnel functions for a state department, division or agency. Work may involve employee relations, recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee development, benefit administration, staffing and payroll.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the Human Resources Division of the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) in Carson City, NV. Incumbent will be responsible for the oversight of the department's recruiting section, leave programs, and personnel actions; supervision of personnel analysts and personnel technicians; and creating, revising, and making recommendations on policies and procedures; advising supervisors and employees on policies, laws, rules, and regulations; conducting formal and informal training; reviewing discipline and grievances; analysis and reporting as needed; recruiting; and auditing and approving personnel actions. THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO UNDERFILL A PERSONNEL OFFICER I. INCUMBENT MAY PROGRESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL UPON MEETING THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE, AND APPROVAL OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field and two years of progressively responsible professional personnel experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    This position has a 10% travel requirement.
