The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE).
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located within the Design Division in Carson City. Incumbent will provide administrative support to the Chief and Assistant Chiefs to include processing and formatting all aspects of correspondence, reports, legal agreements, and any other documents required; preparing equipment and supply requests; making travel arrangements in absence of subordinate; aiding in establishing and monitoring budget by providing historical data, present requirements, and projected costs and trends; processing payment vouchers for consultant and LPA program; preparing process memos and scope budget change forms for Roadway Design and other divisions within the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT); maintaining various data bases such as the PIN Listing and employee data. Incumbent also acts as HR Liaison and Training coordinator for the division and assumes supervisory responsibilities for two Administrative Assistant 3's. Travel up to 25% of the time may be required. Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
