Education Programs Professionals assist and foster the growth of K-12, postsecondary, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
This position can be located in Carson City or Las Vegas. The purpose of this position is to serve as the State of Nevada's primary point of contact for addressing questions and concerns from private school officials and local educational agencies (LEAs) regarding private school licensure, the Nevada Choice Scholarship Program, and the provision of equitable services under Title I and Title VIII, including overseeing the licensing process and procedures for private schools. The Ombudsman is required to monitor and enforce all equitable service requirements under Title I and Title VIII.
The primary role of this position will be to enforce and monitor equitable services requirements for LEAs and private schools. Another major role will be to set up a process that LEAs will use to transmit all required documentation to the State of Nevada. The Ombudsman will then provide technical assistance on that process and the new formula LEAs must use to calculate the equitable services funding.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
An earned Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and two years of professional experience in an educational program area.
This position requires a pre-employment background investigation as a condition of employment.
Positions require statewide travel.
College transcripts must be submitted with the employment application.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Experience
Experience managing private, state and federal grant programs.
Experience with state budgeting to include development, justification, implementation and monitoring.
Experience in developing policies and procedures.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
