The Position
Heat Plant Specialists operate, adjust, monitor, maintain, clean and repair high and/or low pressure boilers and hot water heat generating equipment, auxiliary equipment such as fuel and combustion systems, compressors, pumps, steam lines, steam traps, heat exchangers, water lines, controls, gauges, and emergency power generators.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located in Lovelock, NV which is approximately 100 miles northeast of Reno, NV. The Heat Plant Specialist 4 is responsible for the heating, air conditioning and boilers of the facilities of Lovelock Correctional Center, Humboldt Conservation Camp, and Carlin Conservation Camp. The position will supervise four Heat Plant Specialist 3's, one HVAC technician, and inmate workers as needed to complete tasks at the facilities.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized heat plant apprenticeship program followed by two years of journey level experience as a heat plant specialist; OR two years as a Heat Plant Specialist III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
