The Position
DMV Services Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs including licensing drivers; issuing identification cards; registering and titling vehicles; issuing occupational business licenses; and processing reinstatements.
The technician must have basic knowledge of applications, programs, computer drives and knowledge of NRS, NAC and DMV policies and procedures. They must ensure that all necessary documentation is submitted, enter convictions and withdrawal actions, complete reinstatements and produce clearance letters within the designated turn-around time with minimal errors. The Technician is also required to to process Temporary Licenses and Stay Orders, Hearing decisions, District Court Orders and Decisions, as well as Insurance liability and fines. The Technician will set up and conduct hearings either by phone or in person; match coversheets and completes quality control ensuring 24 hour compliance and that necessary preparation of documents has been completed; ensure that all revenue is handled using the appropriate programs in accordance with NRS, NAC and DMV policies and procedures (P&P), rules, and/or instructions from supervisor. This element of the position requires drawer balancing, refunds, funds handling and check logs. Technician is also required to answer phones, emails, customer correspondence, web pages and customer service. Technician follows NRS, NAC and DMV P&P or instructions from supervisor relating to office conduct and state property. Other related responsibilities are accepting work assignments/responsibilities as directed by Supervisor which may include but are not limited to training new employees, assisting other units, UAT resting/Regression Testing, opening and sorting mail, filing and compiling statistical reports. Technician will adhere to all work place safety in accordance with NRS, NAC, DMV P&P, and/or instruction from supervisor with no exceptions.
MANDATORY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (for those applicants that are NOT current DMV Technicians): A typing certificate (issued within the last 6 months) must accompany your application and must verify your NET typing speed of at least 30 words per minute. No online typing tests will be accepted. This typing certificate may be attained through any Job Connect office, at no charge.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience which included public and/or customer contact including explaining rules, regulations, policies and procedures, one year of which was equivalent to a DMV Services Technician I working with legal vehicle registration and titling documents which required making decisions based on evaluation of customer documents; OR one year of experience as a DMV Services Technician I in Nevada State service.
