Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is located in our Carson City office at 555 Wright Way within the Information Technology Division. The division is comprised of four distinct work groups: Applications, Systems, Production Control and Networks.
This position is responsible for accurately documenting Helpdesk tickets, Software/Hardware installation, procedures and inventory control of equipment. This position is responsible for providing customer support in a timely and professional manner to all customers. It requires the timely completion of tasks, including the planning and communication with all entities involved. This position requires a thorough knowledge of all aspects of dealing with WAN/LAN technology and requires demonstrable technical abilities with Windows 7 and 10 desktop operating systems. Must be able to maintain PC's, Printers, Scanners and wiring, and communicate with the EITS WAN Group. Responsible for all areas of system security in accordance with written procedures.
The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses and Identification Cards shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation, which include Espionage, Sedition, Treason, Terrorism, Transportation Security Incident, Improper Transportation of a Hazardous Material, Unlawful Possession of Explosives, Murder, Making any Threat concerning a Lethal Device, or Racketeering. Additional Real ID criteria provides that the DMV shall not employ a person if they have been convicted of a felony within 7 years of their application or if an applicant was released from incarceration for one of these crimes within five years of their application including Unlawful Firearm Violations, Extortion, Fraud, Bribery, Smuggling, Immigration Violations, Distribution of Controlled Substances, Arson, Kidnapping, Rape or Sexual Abuse, Assault With Intent to Kill, Robbery or Fraudulent Seaport Entry.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |

Experience with Windows 7, Windows 10, Office 2013, backups and antivirus.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
