Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
This position will be located in Carson City or Las Vegas, depending on the location of the most qualified candidate. Under the direction of the Supervisor of the Office of Educator Development and Support, this Education Programs Professional (EPP) position is responsible for coordinating all activities related to ensuring equitable access to effective educators for all students and implementation of the federal Title II-A grant (Preparing, Training & Recruiting Teachers & Leaders) including, but not limited to, grant budget management; development of grant applications; administration of federal funds awarded to districts, Nevada Department of Education (NDE), and other entities; planning and facilitating training/technical assistance to awardees; program compliance; and performance monitoring.
This EPP prepares/delivers presentations to the Nevada Legislature, State Board of Education, and other public bodies; maintains current knowledge base of research-based best practices/national trends related to teacher/leader development reform initiatives; collaborates with department staff, other state education agency personnel, district/school based educators, university administrators/faculty/staff, higher education students, and other community stakeholders/partners; interprets and assists in drafting federal/state laws (Nevada Revised Statutes) and regulations (Nevada Administrative Code) to accurately execute/monitor legislative mandates; and ensures that current and accurate information is maintained on the NDE website. The EPP prepares reports/publications using Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point; keeps organized, detailed and comprehensive records; takes initiative and is self-directed; and has exceptional written/verbal communication and presentation skills. The Department is especially interested in candidates with prior state/federal grant experiences and a background in teacher/leader development. This position requires some statewide travel and periodic attendance at regional/national conferences.

An earned Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and two years of professional experience in an educational program area. |
