The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. *THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE BASED ON THE VOLUME OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. The Nevada Division of State Parks is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3 at the newly created Walker River State Recreation Area near Yerington, Nevada. The park includes the Pitchfork, Rafter 7, Flying M and 9 Mile Ranches. The incumbent performs administrative duties at these locations including general office management and a variety of administrative support functions. Job duties include: providing visitor information; creating and maintaining park files; preparing staff schedules; assembling and distributing park materials and correspondence in all its forms; entering monthly, semi-annual, and annual report data as well as fee data; performing basic clerical accounting tasks; and performing receptionist duties by answering telephones, greeting park visitors and providing basic information regarding park activities. The position will provide program support duties, assist with scheduling, screen and route mail, and retrieve compile financial, statistical, and narrative information. The incumbent is also responsible to prepare weekly deposits of fees and donations, assist with permit processing, review timesheets for errors, scheduling of groups, conferences and weddings, and monitor budgets and invoice permittees. The position requires the use of general office equipment and intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. The employee may be required to work holidays, weekends, and special events.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
