The Position
Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is with the Department of Business and Industry, Office of Ombudsman of Consumer Affairs for Minorities located in Las Vegas. The Office of the Ombudsman of Consumer Affairs for Minorities provides education, outreach and programs for minority groups pertaining to consumer fraud and/or deceptive trade practices, business assistance, affordable housing and workforce and workplace issues. This position incumbent functions as the chief staff person for the Commission on Minority Affairs and therefore must have experience working with minority populations. Additionally, the position is tasked with collecting data and performing statistical analysis to support the Nevada Commission on Minority Affairs created by NRS 232.852; performing investigations, as necessary, to determine whether discrimination on the basis of race is occurring in state or local purchasing, public works, and other areas; presenting data and analysis findings to the Commission; making recommendations regarding policies, procedures, the Commission's position on issues or future course of action, and the development of new programs and services; working with the Commission on Minority Affairs chairperson to facilitate Commission meetings; conducting outreach and education regarding the role of the Commission; reviewing, monitoring, and researching bills submitted to the legislature; and performing other duties as requested. **THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and two years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
Special Notes
    Without the required Bachelor's degree this position would require 6 years of experience, 2 years of paraprofessional experience and 4 years that were at the professional level performing research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
Additional Position Experience
    This position requires experience working with and providing assistance to minority populations in areas such as housing, health, education, employment and economic development.
    Microsoft Excel Advanced level-This position will be required to perform complex statistical analysis.
