RECRUITMENT INFORMATION

Open to current classified employees in the specified Division and Department, with at least 6 months of continuous, full-time equivalent service. Promotional preference will be given in the order listed.
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position provides administrative support to the Chief Compliance/Audit Investigator and Compliance/Audit Investigators to assist in the daily effectiveness of the Enforcement Unit by executing policies and procedures in the performance of duties; assists the Ombudsman and Supervisor when required and when additional tasks are given; researches information from a variety of internal or external sources to assist in the business processes for the Ombudsman's office, as needed; evaluates and compares information and summarizes findings before submittal to Supervisor; reports directly to and provides assistance to the CIC Program Training Officer; appropriately applies statutes to incoming inquiries, communicating with board members and community managers regarding their responsibilities and duties, tracking call and case file types for trends pertaining to specific provisions of NRS 116; and provides statistical evidence to the Training Officer regarding areas of the law in need of greater clarification. The position will receive and review complaint filings verifying requirements of law have been met; triage complaints based on established criteria and requirements; contact applicants and various entities for additional information; research and respond to constituent complaints and facilitate records request; and perform fiscal duties pertaining to the request, receipt, and distribution of office supply orders for all sections within the Division. The position requires heavy work in Excel and Outlook programs. Additionally, the position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
