The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Licensed Practical Nurses provide general or psychiatric practical nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
The Licensed Practical Nurse II (LPN II) position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) - Desert Regional Center, and will be located in Las Vegas, NV. Desert Regional Center (DRC) is a 24 Hour Intermediate Care Facility/Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/ID) Campus. This is a very rewarding and specialized field of nursing working with extremely difficult individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, Mental Illness and closely related conditions such as Autism, Seizure Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, etc. The LPN II will maintain the health, safety, and well-being of individuals and is responsible for the medical coordination of care and health services and treatment; collaborates with professional and paraprofessional staff to ensure optimum patient care and safety; carries out therapeutic procedures which provide for the emotional and physical comfort of patients; identify patient health care needs utilizing professional nursing skills; make comprehensive clinical observations and collecting data and information for the evaluation of health needs; administer treatments and medications per physician's orders and make choices, determinations and judgments in all aspects of their work; provides monitoring for medication side effects and/or allergic reaction and effectiveness; and provides emergency medical treatment such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid. The LPN II must establish and maintain a good rapport and working relationships to foster intra and interdepartmental communications necessary for the delivery of quality care. The LPN II will follow NRS/NAC 632, Nursing rules and regulations as well as DHHS, ADSD, DRC policies and procedures , Medicaid and CMS regulations for ICF/ID facilities.
Candidates must possess and maintain a current CPR/AED Certification, license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada and a NV Driver's License. Travel up to 50% of the time may be required.
A 10 hour night shift schedule, which includes working weekends and the flexibility of working day shift is being offered. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada and two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, one year of which was providing nursing care to inmates in a correctional setting, individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, or patients in a hospital or skilled nursing facility (e.g., convalescent or nursing home).

The ability to travel at least 50% of the time is required.
Special Requirements
Phlebotomy certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Intravenous (IV) certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
