The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
The small team of IT Professionals works in a collaborative and positive environment supporting the important work of the Attorney General's office (AGO) in serving our citizens and state agencies. This position is assigned to trouble shoot and resolve a wide variety of IT issues with AGO applications, systems, networks, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals and escalate those issues to other IT Professionals, application administrators and vendors as needed for resolution if the issues cannot be resolved at their level. This position will also administer and maintain a variety of hardware, including servers, network devices, desktops, laptops, and peripherals; and systems such as BMC TrackIT, DameWare and Symantec Endpoint Protection. The position will work closely with all other AGO IT staff to ensure excellent customer service is provided to our customers. While this position is based in Carson City, the incumbent will provide support via phone, email, and remote connections to staff in other AGO locations throughout the state. In addition, the AGO has several smaller offices throughout northern NV; this position will be involved in work to deploy or repair IT equipment in all northern NV AGO locations. Candidates must be able to demonstrate technical proficiency with the hardware and software typical in a Microsoft-centric IT environment. Candidates must possess excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, the ability to take direction and follow policies and procedures, and the flexibility to work weekends and after hours as needed.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
