The Position
Consumer Services Assistants assist professional staff by performing advocacy and service improvement activities on behalf of clients in mental health service agencies.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. ***This position supports SOUTHERN NEVADA ADULT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES (SNAMHS) and is assigned to the East Las Vegas Clinic. Consumer Services Assistants will provide frontline reception and support as needed for the clinic as a back-up to administrative assistants, monitoring waiting room for safety and cleanliness.
Incumbents will complete orientations with new clients; complete annual file paperwork updates as needed with clients; provide peer support and Clubhouse activities to clients; assist clients in completing intake and orientation forms; provide basic clarification of agency processes, client rights and options to assist professional staff; encourage participation in support networks; assist clients to adjust to transitions in levels of care, and new services or residential support; conduct peer-to-peer recovery group sessions; monitor and report to professional staff on client progress; identify and report problems; and record appropriate case-related information. Our Agency's mission is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life. Through a team approach, we provide innovative inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the Southern Nevada community. Some of the valuable services we provide include Acute Psychiatric Inpatient Services, Inpatient Forensic Services, Mobile Crisis, Medication Clinic, Outpatient Counseling, Service Coordination, Consumer Advocacy Programs, Residential Support, Assisted Outpatient Treatment, Mental Health Court and Programs for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) teams. Inpatient services are provided through the new Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital and Forensic Hospital. Outpatient services are provided through mental health clinics located throughout the community. We are accredited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. SNAMHS is an exciting place to work with an emphasis on utilizing the recovery model, developing innovative programs, increasing consumer and family involvement, educating the public through a variety of activities, and implementing the best practices clinical program.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Ability to read and write standard business correspondence and one year of mental health consumer advocacy experience, six months of which included working for a mental health service delivery system which included monitoring and reporting to professional staff on client progress, providing client perspective to service providers, and providing peer support such as assisting clients to present complaints and resolve problems, complete forms, and adjust to changes in levels of care; OR six months experience as a Consumer Services Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
