The Position
Education Programs Professionals assist and foster the growth of K-12, postsecondary, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
Under the direction of the Office of Special Education at the Nevada Department of Education, this position (located in Carson City) provides leadership to support effective school and district improvement planning and implementation. As part of this oversight, the position provides professional development and technical assistance for educators, administrators, family members, students, policy makers, and others regarding special education laws and educational practices related to students who are identified with disabilities ages 3-21. The Department is especially interested in candidates with expertise or experience in compliance and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and special education programs.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    An earned Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and two years of professional experience in an educational program area.
Special Requirements
    Positions may be required to work on evenings and weekends.
    Positions require statewide travel.
    This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI background check, at the cost of the applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Experience
    This position requires a current Special Education Teaching License.
    This position requires experience teaching students with disabilities and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEP's).
