The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties such as maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; office management; and budget monitoring.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services, Desert Regional Center, and is located in Las Vegas, NV. This position provides an executive level of support to the Agency Manager.
The AA IV handles information that demands a high level of confidentiality, acts as a liaison for the Agency Manager regarding agency activities, coordinates communications with other administrators, arranges meetings, and schedules appointments. The incumbent disseminates administrative, specialized and sensitive information to management team leaders; and receives, processes, tracks agency Serious Occurrence Reports and provides data for agency. This position is the administrative liaison and support for Division level investigators and assists with scheduling interviews and providing documentation; works collaboratively with department heads in the revision and editing of agency policies; is responsible to prepare agency policies for management approval; supervises Administration Department clerical support staff, which includes recruiting for vacancies within; provides supervision/training/documentation to reassigned or light duty employees; screens calls to Agency Manager; manages office wide administrative functions; arranges travel for Agency Manager and Department Heads; and processes travel documentation for in and out-of-state travel, trainings etc. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and promotes a positive work environment. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Travel up to 25%.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
