The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking a Social Services Program Specialist III (SSPSII) to be located in our Carson office or our Las Vegas office depending on the most qualified candidate. This position involves statewide oversight of the Child Protective Services program to include collaboration with child protection agencies, child advocacy groups and federal partners. The position includes development and implementation of statewide policy incorporating federal law/regulation, state statute and best practice standards. The position will also conduct quality assurance and improvement activities, technical assistance, data analysis, report writing and grant oversight. During Legislative Sessions, analyze proposed legislation to assess the impact on child welfare programs and service delivery and implement legislative changes.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
