Certified Nursing Assistants perform basic restorative services and basic nursing services related to the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, basic mental health and protection of patient rights.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The incumbent will mentor Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Nursing Assistant Trainees (NAT) by communicating department policies/procedures and information from the Nurse Management Team; demonstrate resident care that falls within the scope of practice; orient newly hired CNA's and NAT's to the Unit/Neighborhood; provide resident care with activities of daily living; monitor and report vital signs; ensure adequate hydration and nutrition; ensure residents are prepared for appointments and activities; and report concerns to the charge nurse. Incumbent also provide input and pertinent information to the charge nurse or manager on the status of residents in the program to ensure residents are being monitored for special needs and assessments; document resident health care in the Electronic Medical Records; report allegations or suspicion of resident abuse; complete beginning and end of shift rounds to determine if there are any concerns which should be immediately addressed; and maintain compliance with HIPAA laws and department policy to protect confidential resident medical documentation. This position will have exposure to infections; therefore the selected applicant must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant and 18 months of experience performing work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in an institutional setting.
Special Notes
Lead Certified Nursing Assistant incumbents must complete an advanced geriatric and/or mental health skill level course in Patient Centered Care as provided by a recognized health care organization and/or as determined by the hiring agency within six months of appointment.
Special Requirements
Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the Nevada State Board of Nursing is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment for the Certified Nursing Assistant and Lead Certified Nursing Assistant levels.
Some positions require current CPR certification at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
