Registered Nurses provide general or specialized professional nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
The position supports Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) and will initially be assigned to Rawson Neal Hospital. The mission of the agency is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life. Dynamic work responsibilities include assessing and identifying patient health care needs; making comprehensive clinical observations and evaluations; prepare nursing care plans; administering medications as prescribed by a physician or designee; monitoring patients for medication side effects and/or allergic reaction. The position will also provide crisis intervention; help develop safety plan recommendations for patients; actively participate in a multidisciplinary team managing a wide variety of patients and diagnoses; and ensure compliance with CMS standards, as well as established laws, regulations and SNAMHS policies. This is a full time position that may include weekend and holiday shifts. Incumbents will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week. This position requires completion of respirator fit testing and completion of Certification in Conflict Prevention and Response Training. Incumbent must keep license, CPR certification, and Nevada Driver's License current. SNAMHS provides continual on-going training and education to our staff, including paid release time for attending approved trainings and the availability of on-site CEUs. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse; OR an Interim Permit issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.
Per NRS 632.305, the Nevada State Board of Nursing may, after verifying that an applicant meets all licensure requirements, issue an Interim Permit authorizing the applicant to practice nursing until the results of their examination for licensure are received. The Interim Permit is for a period not to exceed 90 days and is immediately revoked if a candidate fails the examination. Passing the licensure examination is a requirement for continuing employment. Any person working under the authority of an Interim Permit may not represent himself or herself as a licensed registered nurse.
Out of state applicants must have a temporary license issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing at the time of appointment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
