Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in the Maintenance and Asset Management Division in Carson City. Incumbent will conduct the Maintenance Achievement Program condition data collection throughout the state; will evaluate, analyze, and report the condition assessment of the assets on the roadways; perform duties to meet new transportation asset management needs by managing data for asset inventories of roadway assets such as guardrails, signs, vegetation control, and performing evaluations and analysis of the data. This position is also responsible for capturing Level of Service (LOS) survey data for the Maintenance Achievement Program and managing those results; managing and designing maintenance and asset management projects by coordinating with stakeholders, conducting field reviews, developing the project scope, scheduling, budgeting, developing cost estimates, developing designs and contract plans, drafting agreements and task orders, and reviewing construction contract plans and specification's to ensure department policies are followed. NOTE: THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO UNDERFILL A STAFF II, ASSOCIATE ENGINEER. INCUMBENT MAY MOVE TO THE NEXT LEVEL UPON MEETING THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE, AND WITH ENDORSEMENT OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
