The Position
Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
The Custodial Worker 2 position is located with Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services in Sparks, Nevada. Duties to include: perform various tasks related to restroom maintenance; clean and disinfect patient rooms, seclusion rooms, medication rooms, nursing stations, conference rooms, utility rooms, office areas, and various areas related to in-patient and out-patient care; maintain carpets, hard floors, walls, windows, vents, light fixtures and touchable surfaces; empty trash receptacles, clean trash receptacles, and transport trash to containment areas. Custodial workers are required to perform snow shoveling, spread ice melt and or sand, clean entrance and exit ways, assist in moving furniture as requested by supervisor, and assist the grounds department, maintenance department and laundry worker position. This position will act as a Lead to the Custodial Supervisor with staffing and housekeeping projects. Work schedules range from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm and include weekends and holidays depending on the needs of the agency. Candidate must have current valid driver's license.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
