The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located within the External Civil Rights Division in Carson City. Incumbent will act as the Assistant American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator. Duties include developing and maintaining ArcGIS geodatabases, maps, and collector applications; conducting on-site construction inspections to ensure compliance with applicable ADA specifications, and recommending appropriate corrective action when needed; preparing reports, reviewing field data for completeness, content, and proposing changes to data to conform to ADA regulations; and analyzing data utilizing established formulas designed for specification conformance analysis. Duties will also include reviewing plans for errors and omissions, participating in pre-construction conferences, contract plans, special provision review meetings, and conducting inspections of construction projects; participating in the design work of a complex nature involving the calculation of horizontal and vertical curves and related design elements; calculating quantities for concrete work, and pedestrian button work as it relates to the ADA; preparing drawings of ADA features, location sketches, typical sections, and base and surface summaries; gathering information on existing features such as measurements of slopes, sidewalks, curbs and gutter, and utilities; writing requests for right-of-way review; and preparing written project descriptions for ADA projects and the five year plan. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
