All living things depend on water, yet few people recognize that water is actually a limited resource. With less than one percent of the water found on earth being drinkable freshwater, it is certainly important to maintain its quality. The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is looking for candidates ready to make water quality a top issue in their daily lives! This position is located within the Stormwater Division, in Reno. Incumbents within this division will use resources and education to maintain adherence to strict environmental regulations. The mandates set forth are critical, as the success of future generations depends on adherence to the clean practices of today.
Incumbent is responsible for performing stormwater field inspections pertaining to compliance with the Statewide Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits to include: assuring maintenance facility stormwater compliance, Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE), industrial facility monitoring, performing routine stormwater asset field inspections, and construction site inspections; preparing technical engineering memoranda and letters relating to permit compliance; reviewing and resolving conflicts associated with stormwater permit related activities for highway construction projects, utility projects, NDOT maintenance activities, or existing facilities; and assuring illicit discharges are swiftly and professionally dealt with in compliance with NDOT Stormwater policies and practices. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
