The Position
Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This is a position at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center. Duties will include basic plumbing skills to include repair and installation of plumbing systems and fixtures; basic carpentry work to include patching walls, framing, sheetrock, floor tile replacement; basic painting skills for interior and exterior walls; basic electrical work, including installing fixtures and testing components; basic automotive repair and maintenance duties; basic welding and machine work; basic lock repair; and ordering of materials and supplies as well as keeping maintenance records. Incumbent will be required to be certified to operate man lifts and forklifts. This position will also act as lead for an inmate crew for various jobs such as painting.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Three years of experience performing higher level semi-skilled work in a relevant building and/or mechanical trades such as troubleshooting a wide variety of lighting fixtures and problems; framing and sheetrocking walls to create new office spaces and installing door jambs, windows, and necessary wiring; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid Class C Nevada driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Positions in the Department of Corrections are subject to call-back after hours and call-out on weekends and holidays.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
