The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties such as maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; office management; and budget monitoring.
This position will work Monday through Friday 3pm-11:30pm. Incumbent is responsible for supervising the Criminal Records Unit swing shift that is a part of the Central Repository of Nevada Criminal History Records. This position's main function is to ensure: 1) the proper maintenance of criminal arrest records, including updates and corrections to State and FBI criminal justice information systems; 2) perform daily work assignments in conjunction with their supervisory duties to include the prompt processing of court-ordered criminal record seals; and, 3) other duties include: supervising permanent and temporary employees which includes training, conducting performance evaluations, directing daily operations and maintaining current workload volumes for fingerprint-based criminal record functions. The position is responsible for ensuring program compliance with applicable state and federal laws; recommending and implementing program policies and procedures to meet established goals and objectives; and compiling and submitting unit-specific comprehensive statistical reports on a weekly/quarterly basis and upon request by management. This position may require occasional shift modification to meet the needs of the unit. This position requires certification in NCJIS/NCIC within six months of employment and recertification every two years for continued employment. Certification will be conducted by the Division.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    This position has a 25% Travel Requirement.
    The incumbent is required to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
