Retail Storekeepers perform merchandising and inventory control duties to maximize profits in a retail store or e-Commerce environment which includes canteen stores and coffee shops in correctional facilities and other State retail operations.
Incumbents work under the general supervision of the Retail Storekeeper 4, and consult with them on a regular basis. They serve in the capacity of a store lead and facilitate the day-to-day operations and store coverage. Responsibilities include ensuring all inmate orders are inputted through the Scantron or Inmate Kiosk system and that inmate pick up lists are printed and reconciled daily. The Retail Storekeeper (RSK) 3 is responsible for developing and implementing sound stock control and merchandising to maximize sales and profits and prepare end of month reports. Inventory and sales reports are reviewed and monitored to ensure turnover rate profit margins meet the expectations of the division.
Incumbents are responsible for maintaining store security such as supervising inmate workers, examining all trash before discarding or leaving the store, ensuring all tools are locked up and accounted for. Additionally, RSK 3's are responsible for: processing inmate payroll monthly and serving as a liaison between institutional staff and Stores Administration; responding to requests for inmate inquiries; training inmate workers and free staff to ensure they understand the duties assigned to them and security policy and procedures; and assisting Store Supervisor in preparing employee evaluations.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school and three years of increasingly responsible storekeeping and retail experience which included responsibility for merchandising, stock control, perpetual inventory, contacts with vendors, and coordinating the work of others; OR one year of experience as a Retail Storekeeper II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
The Examination
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
RETAIL STOREKEEPER 3 (07.819) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question.
