The Position
Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Mental Health Counselor III's serve as a first line supervisor for professional clinicians on a case management team or treatment team OR independently oversee and implement the activities of a major program area such as a satellite clinic OR serve as the regional coordinator and resource referral specialist for the State's Employee Assistance Program.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Rural Clinics is looking for a Mental Health Counselor III in Carson City, NV. Duties include managing multifaceted program components and activities; allocating staff resources; ensuring compliance with applicable laws, licensure and funding requirements; implementing admission and discharge criteria; monitoring and evaluating service delivery and fiscal performance; coordinating program services with courts, law enforcement, school districts, universities, other state and governmental agencies, community groups; supervising professional, technical and clerical staff; and providing staff trainings. This position is responsible for enforcing appropriate standards for clients' rights, professional ethics, health and safety of employees and clients; investigate incident reports and consumer complaints; file required reports, represent the agency as needed, and take appropriate corrective action; ensure that physical facilities are conducive to program objectives and standards; oversee and ensure the maintenance of required clinical records. Rural Clinics is comprised of 16 outpatient behavioral health outpatient clinics located throughout rural Nevada. We provide a continuum of outpatient behavioral health services (e.g., assessments, therapies, targeted case management, basic skills training, psychosocial rehabilitation, crisis intervention, jail diversion, and hospital support programs) to both children and adults. We operate in close partnership with multiple private and public programs and agencies. Carson City is the capital city of Nevada and a great place to live and work! Located 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe and 30 minutes from Reno, Carson City is a short drive from many outdoor activities. Carson City boasts an active arts and culture scene with a theatre, symphony and arts gallery.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and three years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above.

    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
