Professional Engineer Managers plan, coordinate and oversee projects, programs and consultant contracts/agreements and perform licensed professional engineering functions.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located in Carson City within the Specifications Section of the Design Division. The incumbent will plan, coordinate, and oversee the Specification Section, QA/QC section, Manuals and Standard Compliance Section and the CADD Support Section. Duties include establishing and maintaining the Standard Specifications for road and bridge construction; reviewing modifications to the standard specifications (special provisions); reviewing and maintaining the standard plans for road and bridge construction; developing policies and procedures; interacting and communicating with others throughout the department; directing, managing and training subordinate professional staff, evaluating performance, recommending and initiating disciplinary action when necessary and appropriate; organizing, coordinating, and delegating projects and assignments; assisting in budget development; and ensuring federal and state law, policies and standards are met when developing contract documents.

Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and two years of experience performing professional engineering work in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Supervisor, Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and two years of experience as a Staff II or Supervisor II, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of continuing employment.

Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
