The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents independently resolve many users' PC issues including email and applications problems and record calls using the help desk application. Incumbents identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; use utilities to check for network connectivity; and establish user rights.
This position works within the Department of Administration's Enterprise IT Services Division and is located in Carson City, NV. Incumbents working within Client Services provide support to all State agencies and are tasked with providing quality customer service by answering calls and providing one stop shopping for users by supporting desktop, network, hardware and software issues. Additionally, these positions may be responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Windows based desktop PCs, laptops, PDA phones, mobile hand held devices, servers, network equipment, and peripherals across the entire state of Nevada. Some other duties may include fixing PCs, monitoring the network and assisting with Help Desk user support and Computer Operations. Statewide travel of 25% is likely when remote control tools won't solve a given issue. Client Services provides support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. As such, candidates must be willing to work various shifts that include nights and weekends and holidays.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, two years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    This position requires certification in NCJIS/NCIC within 6 months of employment and recertification every 2 years for continued employment. Certification will be conducted by the Agency.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    This position has a 25% travel requirement.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience in a customer service call center is required.
