Personnel Officer's plan, organize and administer personnel services such as employee relations, selection, training and payroll in an assigned agency.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

This position will oversee the personnel management function for the Nevada Department of Veterans Services. Duties include supervision of personnel staff; the responsibility for personnel strategic planning; employee relations; developing departmental policies and procedures; investigate complaints; coordinate the disciplinary process; oversee and administer personnel programs; review classifications and perform compensation functions; research and implement recruitment and retention strategies; complete required reports; serve as the training administrator; serve as Chair and oversee the Agency Safety Program; and act as the agency personnel liaison with other state and federal agencies. This position is located in Reno, Nevada.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business administration, public administration or related area and three years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
