The Department of Public Safety (DPS) provides services in support of protecting our citizens and visitors by promoting safer communities through prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, education and enforcement. The DPS strives to be a premiere public safety agency and provides advanced law enforcement services to the citizens of Nevada. The incumbent will be part of a 13 person team that provides professional and customer-oriented human resource services to the DPS. The DPS Human Resources Office is looking for a human resource professional who is a self-starter, knowledgeable and motivated. The incumbent will primarily handle DPS recruitment activities for the northern part of the state. This includes effective planning and management of the entire recruitment process; traveling up to 50% of the time to attend career fairs; administering written and physical fitness exams; coordinating and completing the scoring of exams; and certifying hiring lists to management. The incumbent provides advice to management to ensure hiring practices are consistent with statutes, regulations and policies. The incumbent is also responsible for participating in the development and revision of oral exams, and training and experience rating exams. Incumbent meets with management to discuss classification needs and assists with preparing position questionnaires (NPD-19 Forms). This includes serving as the liaison for DPS management and the Nevada Division of Human Resource Management throughout the classification process. Additional duties include interpreting and applying employment laws, rules regulations; conducting training; researching and providing statistical information to management. This position requires extensive interactions with employees and applicants, and the selected candidate must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with others.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field and two years of progressively responsible professional personnel experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
