Personnel Officer's plan, organize and administer personnel services such as employee relations, selection, training and payroll in an assigned agency.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located within the Human Resources Division of the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) in Carson City, NV. Incumbent will be responsible for the oversight of the department's recruiting section, leave programs, and personnel actions; supervision of personnel analysts and personnel technicians; and creating, revising, and making recommendations on policies and procedures; advising supervisors and employees on policies, laws, rules, and regulations; conducting formal and informal training; reviewing discipline and grievances; analysis and reporting as needed; recruiting; and auditing and approving personnel actions. Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business administration, public administration or related area and three years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
