The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for Administrative Assistant I located in Ely Nevada. Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government. Typical duties include maintaining records and setting up child welfare files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; typing and word processing; answering telephones and relaying information; proof reading court reports; ordering and stocking supplies; receiving, sending certified mail: scheduling visitations and monitoring when required; operating office equipment such as copiers; and performing related duties as assigned.
This is a full time position located in ELY, NV. Applications and consideration will only be give to those willing to work in Ely, NV. The anticipated work schedule of 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday that includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. The State of Nevada and DCFS offer an excellent benefits package that includes health, dental and vision insurance, participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), accrual of 15 days of annual and 15 days of sick leave, 11 paid holidays and no city, county, state or social security tax! The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS), together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies, provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole.THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of clerical experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records, answering telephones, and reviewing forms, documents and other written materials; OR six months of experience as an Administrative Aid in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
