Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Rural Clinics is looking for a Mental Health Counselor II. Rural Clinics is comprised of 16 outpatient behavioral health clinics located throughout rural Nevada. We provide a continuum of behavioral health services (e.g. targeted case management, basic skills training, psychosocial rehabilitation, therapy, testing, jail diversion, and children's programs, crisis intervention) to both children and adults. The incumbent of this position may be located in either Elko or Battle Mountain, NV.
Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, policy implementation, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, intellectually disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient setting.
Elko is located in the center of Northern Nevada's Great Basin on Interstate 80, between Salt Lake City, Utah and Reno, Nevada. Nestled in the Ruby Mountains and close to the Humboldt National Forrest, and the South Fork State Recreational Area, Elko residents have access to many activities, including horseback riding, rodeoing, hiking, snow-mobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, hunting, boating, waterskiing, and camping. Notable events include the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, the Annual County Fair, and an annual Classic Car Show.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above. |

Licensure or certification as a Mental Health Counselor, Certified Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor issued by the appropriate licensing or certification authority is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |
