The Position
Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
This position reports to the Superintendent of Public Instruction at the Department of Education, located in Carson City, NV. The selected candidate will: provide assistance to the Superintendent conducting studies, research, and analysis of policies and programs; oversee the development of all regulations prescribed by the Department of Education and the State Board of Education, including language preparation and the management of workshops and public hearings; monitor and provide performance management oversight for the Department's strategic plan; and monitor and research bills submitted to the Legislature impacting the Department, inform the Superintendent of possible implications, and recommend an appropriate course of action.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR one year experience as a Management Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    This position requires up to 25% travel.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience with project management.
    This position requires experience in the development of federal or state policy in the areas of education, workforce development, economic development or other related arena to include working with stakeholders, public presentation and/or testifying.
