The Position
Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is part of a five member interagency, multi-disciplinary team that is located in Carson City and focused on the sagebrush ecosystem. This position represents the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, State Lands Division. The primary duty of this position is the development and facilitation of restoration and preservation projects to protect the Sagebrush Ecosystem, with a focus on the Greater Sage-grouse habitat.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree in the physical, natural resource or life sciences, engineering or closely related field and three years of professional environmental experience which involved environmental program research, planning, and technical support; OR one year of experience as an Environmental Scientist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Some positions may require specialized experience which will be identified at the time of the recruitment.
Special Requirements
    This position has a 25% travel requirement.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience in watershed restoration and/or range conservation projects or programs.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
